IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Dial-up number change for The Friendly Giant

We have changed our dial-up modem number to give you national access.
This allows you to dial in to your account for the price of a local call from any Australian phone line.

If you haven't yet done so, please change the phone number and the USER NAME when you next connect to us.
If you SAVE the changes, you will not need to re-enter the details again.

The new phone number is: 0198308800 .
 Your new USER NAME will be your current one PLUS @giant.net.au

Instructions for changing to the new number for Windows XP users follow immediately below.

Instructions for Windows 95, 98, ME and 2000 follow at the bottom of this page.

If you use another Operating System (Macintosh, Linux, Windows 3.1, etc)
and need help making the setting changes, please e-mail us for detailed instructions.

Seven easy steps to change the number for Windows XP users

1) DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET

2) Click on the icon you normally use to connect to The Friendly Giant.

   You should see the following:

3) Type @giant.net.au after your username

4) Replace the old phone number with 0198308800

5) Retype your password

6) Click on the DIAL button. You will be asked if you want to make the change permanent.

7) Click OK to save the change.

WINDOWS 95 and 98

When not connected to the Internet, double-click on the MY COMPUTER icon on the desktop, then click on the DIAL-UP NETWORKING icon.

You should be taken to a window where there will be one or two entries for connecting to us. If the computer was set up by us or from our instruction sheet, these connections should be named DIAL THE FRIENDLY GIANT and FRIENDLY GIANT 33.6K. If the computer was set up in another manner, the entries for connecting to us may have different names.

Right-click on one of the above entries and select PROPERTIES from the choices menu.
In the new window, change the phone number from 53270700 (or 53315411) to our new number 0198308800 and click OK to save that change.
Then, double-click on that icon and add @giant.net.au to the user name showing in the window that opens.
After that click on the button to connect to us.

Once you have connected with the new details, the computer should remember them and you won't need to make further changes there.

If you had two entries for The Friendly Giant in Dial-up networking, the second one need no longer be used and can be deleted.

WINDOWS ME

When not connected to the Internet, double-click on the MY COMPUTER icon on your desktop, then on the CONTROL PANEL icon. On the left-hand side of the new window, below the entry for the Control Panel, you should see DIAL-UP NETWORKING underlined in blue. Click on it to open the Dial-up networking window.

You should be taken to a window where there will be one or two entries for connecting to us. If the computer was set up by us or from our instruction sheet, these connections should be named DIAL THE FRIENDLY GIANT and FRIENDLY GIANT 33.6K. If the computer was set up in another manner, the entries for connecting to us may have different names.

You should be taken to a window where there will be one or two entries for connecting to us. If the computer was set up by us or from our instruction sheet, these connections should be named DIAL THE FRIENDLY GIANT and FRIENDLY GIANT 33.6K. If the computer was set up in another manner, the entries for connecting to us may have different names.
