Over the last two centuries the world of thought and spirituality has rediscovered Gnosis as a tradition of knowledge immersed in the origins of our civilisation. The writings and investigations of Helena Blavatsky,Annie Besant,Rudolf Steiner,J. Krishnamurti, and Carl Jung paved the way for Gnostic thought to enter once again into Western academic and spiritual studies. This combined with the discovery of the Nag Hammadi Library, and Dead Sea Scrolls, testify to the increasing interest in Gnosis and in the Gnostic studies in our society. Samael Aun Weor a contemporary Gnostic Master, presents his vision, to understand the Gnostic tradition of the past, to enlighten us about our present situation and to present a new horizon for the future.
The Gnostic Institute of Anthropology presents Gnostic Wisdom as it was once practised by all the worlds philosophies. It was unveiled by Samael Aun Weor (1917-1977) who not only taught this knowledge but also lived it, practised it and experienced it. So it is not just a philosophy compiled by a philosopher after years of research, rather it is a way of life. Only through direct knowledge can we experience such a philosophy. Gnosis then, is a system which teaches techniques and exercises which lead us along the path of self-realisation, to that perfect harmonious development of ourselves as conscious men and women.
The Gnostic Institute is an educational charity whose purpose is the dissemination of the Gnostic Anthropology as taught by our founders. We do not pursue political or economic ends. We do not profess to any one religion or denomination. We only pursue the dissemination of authentic methods by which each person can develop his or her highest potential. We speak only on a practical level and provide methods by which everything can be tested and proven. We do not deal with false theories or antiquated dogmas which are responsible for keeping the human mind and consciousness in a state of sleep. Ignorance is our greatest enemy. Man not only ignores but, what is even more unfortunate, ignores that he ignores! Therefore, it is better to KNOW than to BELIEVE. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness...
